I have to say that I am so disheartened by my experience at Deluca Toyota today. I was supplied an quote from Brenan that had a bottom line price of $25695.95, that included offering me 8K on my trade in. I had a roll 5K roll-ovee that I knew would be added back in, making the final price around 31k.
When I came in to Deluca , I showes thwm the quote they sent me two daya prior. They went to work numbers (what was the point of the quote) and came back to me with $40000. I took one look at the quote and said "nope" and Jerry said "ok" and walked away, quote in hand, leaving me little room for questions.
I simply do not understand the math on this. Even with the original quote and my roll over, I should have been purchasing the Camry for roughly 31,500. If I am being offered a thousand more for my trade, then my new quote should have been for $30,500. I should also add that I qualify for an additional $500 as a recent college graduate.
I was very clear with Brenan earlier in the week about what my expectations were and was told that I'd need my vehicle to be seen, so I drove the 60+ miles (twice as we got there at 15 minutes to closing the night before) to see the car. I was pretty clear that I didn't want to waste my time on a deal that would never happen. In fact, I laid at all the numbers that i expected via our email exchanges and was told to come in with my trade-in.
What happened was that I was lured in with a quote that was obviously aware was a false quote to get me in for a test drive. DeLuca obviously banks on the fact that Toyota's sell themselves. How my quote could almost double whenever I am in person, literally boggles my mind.
I was 100% ready to purchase this vehicle at the $31000 that I assumed I would be at, based on the falsely advertised quote. I am pre-approved through my bank and ready to purchase. I have purchased a vehicle every 4 years for the last 20 years and I have never been more disappointed or disgusted by a car dealing experience.
