Took my wife's car in for a 45k service and too have a front strut looked at under warranty (other mechanic identified a minor leak).
I was called by a service member who told me they would do the 60k service, replace the pollen filter, spark plugs and brake fluid flush. I asked how for the cost and was told $108 extra for those items.
When I went in to get the car the price had jumped from around $500 to $880. When I questioned the additional cost the staff member broke down the pricing with what works had been done. This is the same staff member who told me the cost would be an extra $108, he denied saying that amount to me.
The icing on the cake was being told the strut was identified as "sweating" and would not be replaced under warranty as this was deemed as normal. I have asked a few mechanics who have all said struts are not suppose to leak or "sweat".
I am absolutely annoyed at the lack of transparency with their pricing and their warranty procedures. I will never return to a Volkswagen dealership again.
