I went to Mornington Toyota on 02 July 2020 to purchase brake fluid and an air cleaner element for my wife's car. Five minutes later I found fluid leaking from the 500 mL container purchased. On inspection it had been opened, the silver seal under the lid had been completely removed. Approximately 200 - 250 mL of fluid missing.
I spoke to spare parts manager and his stance was that "it was an accident". Accidents are when someone inadvertently opens the lid. With the seal and half the contents removed, this is not an accident. It clearly shows intent.
I was lucky and the bottle was replaced but what would have happened if I had discovered the problem in one or two days. I'm sure the situation would have been different??
We are in the process of purchasing a new Corolla for my wife, unfortunately, Mornington Toyota is now off the list. Her current car was purchased at Mornington Toyota in 2007 and she had expressed a desire to go back for the next purchase.
