Our Audi Q5 went in for the mandatory Takata airbag recall. It came back with the sunroof not working. Went back to be fixed & thought all was OK but noticed one paddle shift (+) wasn't working. Too busy to take it back (wife doesn't use them anyway), but then she reported a random stalling issue. Spent months chasing it (changing fuel filter, mechanics looking for boost leaks etc) before suspecting it might be related to the broken paddle shift.
NRV were adamant it wasn't anything to do with the work they did & refused to spend 10 minutes pulling out the airbag 'just in case'. Interestingly, they were able to quote me ~$900 to repair it! So I removed the airbag myself & found the paddle shift cable was crushed. I sourced the spare part myself, replaced it & our car is back to normal.
To their credit, after I sent them pictures of the fault, they offered to replace the part. But since I'd already fixed it I saw no point it giving them another chance to break our Audi.
Now I have another car that needs the airbag recall completed, so it looks like I need to drive to the Gold Coast (or beyond) to avoid Northern Rivers Volkswagen.
