I have been trying to get documents from Yonkers Kia since May for my insurance. These documents are the Lease agreement as well as the MSRP window sticker for the vehicle.
I have emails with my sales rep ensuring me these documents would be sent in May. I told my insurance the dealership would be sending them in. Trusting the dealership I assumed these would be sent in. I even tried to confirm when I went in for maintenance at the front counter of sales, but they said they would leave a message for the sales rep to do so.
Last week I received an email from my insurance giving me a deadline for the end of this week to get these documents in or I will lose collision coverage on my car. I’ve called Friday, Monday, and Tuesday and have had the same response each time. The sales rep and the sales manager are never available to speak and someone will call me back as soon as possible. They never do. This was even the case back in May.
My last few experiences with Kia have really deterred me from ever being a customer again or recommending to anyone.
My first lease was a good experience for the most part. There was an incident when I took my first lease in for maintenance where it was obnoxiously keyed. When I was given back the car it had been keyed all the way around the vehicle and no one at the dealership noticed. Once I pointed it out they promptly put things it motion to get it fixed.
When I went to get my new lease we had agreed on a price for the updated vehicle and last minute they tried to bring up the price. I told them I was unable to do the deal and that I was at my max already. They brought down the price to what was agreed upon and said it was back to the original deal. As I was signing I noticed a slight change in the deal as it went from a 36 month lease to a 48. I felt taken advantage of and felt very uncomfortable as a returning customer.
The staff at Yonkers Kia are nice and respectable people, but it appears upper management pushes them harder on sales than they do with customers service for their current customers. I’m sure they need to make a quota, which allows less time for emails and other messages. I feel less important than a new sale because you already have my money for 4 years.
We already knew the car we wanted, so the process was very easy. Antonio was very helpful and funny, which made the experience better. I was grateful for him and the finance manager for staying behind after hours since the insurance company was causing us problems. Overall, I recommend Kia and make sure Antonio is your salesperson.
